  • The spirit of lust

Expressions In the Bible, we know that we do not war against flesh and blood, but against principalities. powers and powers of darkness in the heavenly places. This means that God is not constantly engaged in arguments and fightings of men but of the spiritual beings which are influencing the hearts and minds of men. Christians ought to realise that our warfare is spiritual rather than natural or of the flesh.

Lust is of the flesh but there is also the spirit of lust which inflences the hearts and minds of men. When a person constantly give in to his desires of the flesh, he or she opens their hearts for lust, as time goes by, the lustful desire no longer influences their lives but it dominates or controls their lives. It is because a spirit has taken over the person and he or she could no longer subdue it.

In the old testament, the spirit of lust is also expressed as the spirit of harlot, which means the spirit of prostitution. God uses these words on the unfaithful Isreal many times in the Bible. This spirit does not only apply to prostitutes since God had been using them on His Children, the Isrealites. As not all the Isrealites are prostitutes by profession, God was referring to their lust and their lustful deeds, which caused them to be unfaithful to the Holy God.

As the Word of God says that wickedness will arise in these last days, the spirit of lust will also dominate many hearts and soul. Therefore let us be vigilent to intercede and pray against the spiritual darkness.

    God bless you!

    False Doctrine and Prophecy

Expressions 'For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers, and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.' 2 Timothy 4 : 3 & 4

The cause of false doctrine is from men and women who have turned away from the truth themselves. Disobedient people preaching, sharing and or teaching out of their own desires. This is happening in our present church as well. People will go after famous and anointed preachers and teachers to hear sugar coated messages and words which are not too hard for them, so that they can excuse themselves from repentance and obedience to God.

False prophecies are also sugar coated in its nature. Many prophecies are given to fill the desires of the people instead of telling them the truth.

I once went to a meeting where the minister was prophecying a five digit monthly salary to one of his congregation. People are happy to hear such words because it fulfill their desires. However, God's Word tells us that GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN. Prophecies which are not in line or according to the Word of God are false. It only produce more ungodliness to those who hear or receive them.

In response to Redeemed's posting- where it was mentioned that we'll adopt our bodies at our prime age (25-30yrs) to be our eternal body...

Just a food for thought qn:
what if i weigh 100 kg at my prime age? does it mean i'll be 100kg in heaven forever?

If yes: I don't think it'll be glorifying to God having a body of high fats and cholesterol.
If not: Then we'll look drastically different!

Also, do you think Moses looks like an old man or a young 25 yr old guy when you meet him in heaven?

hmmm....let's just leave it as the 'mysteries of God'....we'll find out in time to come....

    The place of worship

Expressions Many of us know that the church is where we worship. We would go to church to offer our offerings, tithes and to worship God. However, in our personal life, we live our own life, the old self-centred life.

The place of worship for us is not in the church. It is the place where we surrender our hearts, lives and all our desires to God. If we have not reach that stage, we have not reach our full worship to God. We are just singing songs, giving offerings with an unyielded heart, in the flesh.

Let us know and be reminded that worship starts from our lives and not our mouth, it comes from a grateful and a heart that loves to be with God and not a show of appearance. In worship, we have to yield to Him and not merely contented in receiving His blessings. For no true blessings from God will come to those who does not chose to honor Him.

    God loves you!

    The Manifestations of the Spirit
    Friday, 28 October 2005 @ 12:52 PM SGT

Expressions But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kind of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.... 1 Cor. 12 : 8 - 10

There are nine spiritual manifastations listed in these scriptures. They are all given by the Spirit of God for the profit of others.

    1. Manifestations of the flesh
One of the differences between the flesh and the Spirit is that the flesh glorifies itself whereas the Spirit glorifies God. The flesh boosts in its arrogance and will tries to do things in its own strength. Eventhough gifts and talents can be showed in the flesh, however, they produce no life to those receiving it.

Some of the manifestations of the flesh are:
'Laughing in the spirit' to impress others.
    Bragging about ministry's capacities.
Pressing people to fall down so that they appear to be 'slained in the spirit'.
Using money, people, programmes or anything to attract people to Christ.
Using opposite sex to attract people to church.

There are so many things that we have done in the flesh and claimed to be doing for God.

    2. Biblical Manifastations
There are many manifastations in the present church now that are not biblical. These manifastations include:
    Laughing in the spirit
    Shaking under the power
Visions and prophecies about being rich
    Seeing gold dust
Power to pray for gold teeth

To be honest, I could only find nine biblical manifestations from the bible. They are all in the verses of 1 Cor. 12 : 8 - 10.

    Jesus loves you!

Expressions 'I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' - and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked - I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see...' The next generation leaders

Expressions What we will be experiencing in the future, God has already appointed His children to accomplish His purposes. I realise that God has risen different people for a different time. When the time is passing, God will be raising up a new group of believers to accomplish His next plan. However, the present leaders need to understand and to take it to heart that it is not that their positions are being threatened by others whom God has anointed, but that God has a purpose for the near future. Leaders need to understand and help those who loves God and are anointed by God for His future purposes, so that they can be sound and established in their faith. We need to be sensitive in what God is doing in other's life as well.

*Diiferent kinds of working for different times -
God is sovereign! He will do something different in different times and situations. When the situations are shifting to the extremes, God is in control. Therefore, God is always working and He only took a day's off when He created the universe. Therefore, we need to understand that God is not a God who always remain in the past, but also a present and future God.

All our past activities and experiences cannot and should not be the same as our present and future. If it is so, then, our churches and our Christian lives are not growing at all.

The Presence of God in worship
    Friday, 21 October 2005 @ 09:33 AM SGT

Expressions We need to take serious consideration of our lives. For if we live sinful and unsantified lives in the world, it will affect our worship to God.

    1. Worship and the life of the worshipper
The way we live our lives and our worship to God has a direct relationship to it. God is not please with people who offers lip services but their hearts are far from Him. We need to obey God in our hearts and lives first before we even go into a worship hall to worship God in songs.

    2. The anointing of worship.
When King David ushered back the ark of God to where he was, he ushered it together with praises and worship to God. David loved God and thus was more than delighted to have the ark of God restored back to his nation.
Similarly, we need to be like King David who takes delight in ushering back the Presence of God in our church and nation.
This can be done through true praise and worship from the church.

    3. Looking up to God and not man.
One of the key essence in praise and worship is to honor God. We should not honor man before God. God should come first before us, not we before God. We should not be proud when someone praises us or when what we do are recognised by people. We should always remember our humble positions and exalt God rather than ourselves.
