  • The ministry of evangelism

Expressions The call to evangelise is a general responsibility for all believers. However, we are not to work it out in our own strength. The Holy Spirit has come to empower us for evangelism.

Jesus said, 'You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit come upon you.'

We are thus enabled to work the work of the Holy Spirit since He lives in us. If we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, He can do greater things and His work thru us.

The ministry of evangelism is to tell the good news to the world. In order to do this, we need great boldness. Boldness is not something we can have if we trust in our own strength. Boldness comes when we trust in God and believe that He is able to do anything.

Filled with the Spirit. When the believers in Acts were filled with the Holy Spirit, they did not have their 'Holy laughter' nor were they shaking their hands, they spoke in other tongues. Similarly, when a person receives the Holy Spirit, he or she will speak in other tongues. Speaking in tongues is then a sign to the non-believers, for the others were marveled when the apostles and the rest waiting upon the Holy Spirit spoke their own language. This sign, therefore, brings unity of heart as we now speak of one heavenly language to God and to men (if we know its interpretation or the tongue is the language to the other).

Evangelism is therefore more than just getting people saved and confessing Jesus. It is to have the world know and recognise Jesus is LORD.

When does a Christian receive the Holy Spirit?

Expressions The popular view amongst Christians is that the moment they put their faith in Jesus Christ, the receive the Holy Spirit. But this would make Paul's question in Acts 19:2 unecessary: "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?". I would like to hear views from any Christian in the forum.

    Into His Presence

Expressions There are different levels of commitment in the life of a Christian, just as there are different levels of commitment of the staff of a company.

When you begin to live like a Christian, we are like recruits in an army, learning how to march and learning its various commands. After we pass out as a recruit, we move on to the next level. Each level requires more commitments as its responsibilities increase.

Similarly, it is for a Christian. Our level of commitment, devotion and love for God cannot remain always at the primary level. We need to go in deeper into God's Presence, Spirit and His Word. As we move on to a deeper intimacy with God, He will entrust us with new and more responsibilities. People who only want to be recognised and known for their many responsibilties are usually taking things in their own hands. God didn't call or speak to them, but they in their own will, move into it themselves. They will also run into danger of being excluded by God in the Day of His Judgement, when the secret of their motives are revealed and exposed.

Let us move in with God!!!

    When God draws nearer

Expressions When God draws nearer to us, His Spirit will take over. Man's efforts without the enablement of the Spirit, are like a chopper trying to chop a steel. He wastes his efforts and uses too much energy on a wrong focus. Such is the way of some of us.
When God draws closer, He will desire that we put off our ways and desires and surrender ourselves to Him. He is not interested in our accomplishments, nor is He interested in our fame. He is only interested in our hearts, our hearts' attitude means a lot to Him, since it's going to determine how we're going to respond to Him.

Depart from sin and let us draw close to Him.

The Presence of God in us

    Expressions Abide in Me...

Many of us are busy figuring out our lives and work. We are busy with many things.

The new testament is about God working in and thru the lives of His people, the church. The Lord has promised to live in us and His Spirit and Presence in us will cause us and help us to become more like Himself. What an amazing love!

    The flesh or the Spirit?
The flesh is our carnal and fallen nature, whereas, the Spirit is the resurrected and victorious being of God. Two of them are contrary toward one another. We should not do things in our flesh. We should not serve God in our flesh. We should not please God in our flesh.

God works from the inside out, whereas, people are concerned about the appearance. God is concern about our hearts' condition, whereas, man is concern about the outward factors.

When we are too concern about the outward factors: what people will say? how many people we minister? how good a praise and worship service sounds? How famous we are? how big is our cell or church? etc...

We are actually allowing our flesh to control our thoughts. In state of allowing the Spirit to rule our thoughts, we allow the flesh, people, or the world to rule and influence our thoughts and subsequently our actions.

    God loves you!

    Angelic Offspring

Do you believe that angel can cohabit with humans and father offspring?

I don't believe that is possible. If it is possible, Satan who is the fallen angel will be able to father as many children as possible. He won't need to tempt you to win your soul. He would have enough for his purposes. Right.

    What do you think?

    The anointing within

Expressions 'But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.' 1 John 2:20

God's Word tells us that we have an anointing from the Holy One, which means God Himself. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, therefore, believers who have the Spirit of God living inside them, know the deep things of God.

'For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.' 1 Cor. 2:11

We know things in the spirit because God's Spirit dwell in us.

The anointing simply implies the presence of God and the power of God in and upon our lives.

In the old testament, the kings, the prophets and the priests had the anointing to help them fulfill their call and ministry. In the new testament, all believers are able to receive the Holy Spirit into their lives, if they are open and willing, for God desires to dwell inside us.

Losing the anointing. The anointing of God is linked to our relationship and walk with God. When we sin or disobey God, like King Saul in the old testament and like Judas in the new testament, we will lose the anointing of God as a believer. So, we must walk close with God and in obedience to His Spirit and Word, to allow the anointing to grow in our lives.

    God bless you!

    Neither hot nor cold

Expressions 'I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.'Revelation 4 : 15 & 16

Christians run in danger of lukewarmness in God. When we are dull towards the things and the Spirit of God, God said, He will vomit us out.

Why do Christians turn lukewarm in their love for God?
'If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.' 1 John

Many Christians turn lukewarm because of their love for the world and the things in the world. The things of the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, eventually turn their hearts away from God.

We Christians need to repent of our lukewarmness towards God. When we no longer desire the love of God, when we no longer love God with all our hearts, minds and strength. When we sadly replace God's unconditional love for selfish loves and gains.
