Sometimes we can be too busy defending our rights, traditions, following the busy schedule and miss out on God. Sometimes we can be too busy in following after man's plan and idea and lose focus on God's, thus, moving away from God's idea.

"Our foundation should always be of Christ."
"Let each man take heed on how he builds."

We are not to lay extra foundations which Christ has already laid. Foundational teachings and commandments of God should be our focus, not our self-imposed traditions or rules. Whether a ministry can excel, it also depends on the maturity of the minister and his or her understanding of its purposes.

God never intent for competition in His church, nor building of defensive walls to protect herself. Anyone who tries to control or promote their own, in the name of Christian service is self-seeking and self-promoting.

"Love must be sincere, hate what is evil and cling to what is good."

Expressions It has always been a challenge for every Christian to conquer the flesh, to break the powers of the worldly spirits and to defeat the schemes of Satan. I feel that too.

We can't defeat our spiritual enemies through the flesh. Our enemies are spirits, evil spirits. Fighting them in the flesh is useless.

We need a strong spirit within... A discerning heart to perceive and perseverance to breakthru the strongholds.

    Jesus loves you.

    The lust of the eyes

"I have made a covenant with my eyes that I will not look at a young woman." Job

It is one thing to look at someone with purity and another to lust for her beauty. This applies for the ladies too. The spirit of lust has been working since day one and is furthering it's work at this time. He is attacking the sheeps and lamps of our Lord Jesus Christ and is turning many hearts for its desires. Many have gone after the beauty and the desires of this world and are in bondage over its lust.

    "Be sober minded, be self-controlled"

Beloved, let us keep our hearts and minds pure and flee ourselves from temptations.

Reformation - The need for a change

Expressions I was praying some weeks ago and I felt God's Spirit telling me, "This is the beginning of a change, things will begin to change." After which, I saw in front of me, a young man published in the newspaper, calling for a change...

Why does God want to change things and the way we view things?

"New wines will need new wineskin or else, it will burst. New wine cannot be contained in a old wineskin."

The wine in the verse, is figurative. It is to describe something new.

Why does Jesus has to come down on earth to save us?

The old laws and commandmants written in the old testament cannot save us, we need a new covenant with God.

The renewing of the Spirit - The Spirit revives and renew our lives. He doesn't abide with man's traditional and "old-fashion" ways.

Led by the Spirit - Believers who are led by the Spirit will identify and recognise that it's God behind the change.

Let us be open towards what God can do and how He will do it. Not relying on our own wisdom, understanding and strength but let Him begin to surface and manifest in our nation and His world.

    God bless!

I tell you the truth. Many of the things we do, are not led by the Spirit of God. Many of the programmes that we run, come out of our own mind and thoughts. Some of them are out of God's plan.

It is one thing to serve God and it is another thing to serve His purpose for you. Knowing and understanding the Lord is of great importance.

"Let not the wise, glory in his wisdom. Let not the strong, glory in his might. But let him who glories, glory in this, that he knows and understands the Lord."

Are you wise in doing and planning things? Are you strong in your might? Don't rely on these. They will soon fade away. He who knows the Lord, understand all things.

    May we follow His Spirit!

"Since we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

    With God's love.

Principles of ministry (Your service to others)

Expressions The normal routine of Christian duty and life has always been around us. At times, we just feel that we are repeating whatever we are doing. After a while, we feel drain out in our strength and enthusiasm.

We can't create something or do something and call it a ministry.
    What is a ministry?
Is it something we can do for God? Is it not what God can do through us?

"Let each one examines how he builds, for no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus."
    1 Cor. 3 : 10 & 11

The above verse tells us the foundation has already been laid. It also tells us that Christians ought to build according to God's pattern. We see this in the following verse of the above.

    What are we building?
Some examples of the things ppl are building are:
    - Church membership
    - Finances
    - Personal ambitions
    - Relationships
    - Lives
    - Family
    - Ministry

The truth concerning the whole matter is not what we do or build but the resources we use to do or build it.

"Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is." 1 Cor 3 : 12 & 13

Some of the materials or resources people use to build are:
    1) Church programmes
    2) Money
    3) Organisational structures
    4) Men / Women
    5) Love

Rarely we see people do things as led and prompted by the Spirit. The things that we do, of how much value is it worth in the sight and judgement of God?

When tested with fire, will it be found with the right motives and that of God's?

Let us check and take heed of our lives, so that we may be more fruitful through Him.

Let us remain humble by obeying His Spirit and His Word.

The kind of worship God desires

Expressions One day, Cain and Abel decided to offer an offering to God. The first was rejected but the latter was accepted.

How do you know whether your offering, services and sacrifices to God are accepted?
Do you think you are always doing the right thing for God?

Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
Abel brought the firstborn of his flock and their fats.

The reason why Abel's offering was accepted was because he gave his best and first to God.
How do you measure your best to God?

Our best, is our everything. Abel gave His all. It was not the physical all, but he gave out of all his heart. Whereas, Cain gave the balance to God.
God don't expect you to go into missions in order to love Him more. God don't expect you to do anything to be approved by Him.

In our hearts, there are other desires. Maybe 10% to the world, 10% for your career, 10% for yourself, 10% for pleasures and the remaining for Him alone.

It has to be a surrendered life. Do we have that kind of heart and life like Abel? We are still short of it, but God will help us if we are willing.

    Love you.

    The Repentant Christian
    Wednesday, 07 July 2004 @ 10:54 AM SGT

Expressions Repentance starts from the heart. It changes the person and make him or her more like Christ. The first step of repentance is the sinner's prayer, but the final step of repentance does not end there.

    A growing Christian is repentant.

Repentance is for all, sinning Christians as well as sinning pagans. There will come a point of time that God's Spirit will convict you of things that you should not do, you will be required to make some changes in life and sacrifices in order to live a holy life for God. Many are unwilling to pay the price of consecration and purity. That is why so many still live in sin or bondages and carry a "Christian" title.

False doctrine makes you feel comfortable to sin. True doctrines corrects you, reproves you and makes you more like Christ, who is sinless. We speak this truth in love. Judge yourself this day and uphold what is right.

    God bless you!
