Expressions 'O Lord , revive us once again, that Your people may rejoice in You.' Psalm

'Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.'

We read in the Word of God that the Spirit of God moves together with the Word of God (Genesis 1). When God created the universe, His Spirit accompanied His Command(Word) to accomplish those things.

Similar, Christians also have the Spirit of God inside us. The Word of God also tells us to hide His Word inside our hearts (Psalm 119). It is thru God's Word and Spirit that miracles are performed and healings took place. Men is not the author of miracles or healing.

I sensed that God wants a greater manifestation of His Spirit in this last days. We have seen a lot from men, the works of men. However, God wants us to see more of Him. In order, for us to focus on God rather then on men, God needs to arise in our midst. He will not literally show up personally in our midst, but His Spirit will move according to His Word.

We read that the Word of God says that, Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord. The might, refers to the strength of men. The power, was not refering to the Power of the Holy Spirit, but the authorities of the world. God is saying in this last days, My Spirit will come first and people will see more of Him rather than of us.

    God bless you!

    Superstitious Christians

Just wondering why so many Christians, especially from the Charismatic movement are behaving in such a superstitious manner. They have their personal "Sai Kong" (Hokkien for "priest") whom they consult about their future. Of course they don't call it "fortune-telling". God forbid! They call this "personal prophecy". They have these people who claim to be "prophets", who go from church to church, preaching and giving "personal prophecies". I believe in the prophetic movement but if I am not wrong, the prophets of God are 100% accurate. They do not do guess-work and give vauge prophecies.
Dunno what happen recently - every Tom, Dick and Harry seems to become a prophet or apostle. Yet, we do not see actual accurate 100% "juung juung" (accurate) type of prophetic words. Aiyah, many of them are just guessing when they prophecize over people.

Something like, "I see the sun shinning over your life in the next few months". Wow. Fantastic prophecy. If I were to go to hot Arabia, I would have considered the prophecy to be accurate loh. Maybe if I stay in hot and wet S'pore... wah, also accurate loh. Maybe I have a new girlfriend with a round round face that looked like a sun... wah, lagi accurate.

You see... how the modern prophecies have their loopholes. General prophecies like the one I mentioned just make a mockery out of all of us. Very rarely, we ever have this 100% accurate type of prophecies. Even the Charlatans also have this kind of things to offer.

What to do lah. We have moved from our superstitious Taoistic background into a more superstitious one.

God help us now. With so many so-called prophets (many of them self-ordained one), we the ordinary Christians "boh see mah siong" (not die also badly injured). If our pastors are also superstitious then how can the ordinary members like us be any better.

God really got open our eyes to the Truth and make us less superstitious loh!

    Dying Well

Expressions We will all die one day. That is one of the few things we can be sure of. But will we die well? That is less certain. Dying well means dying for others, making our lives fruitful for those we leave behind. The big question, therefore, is not "What can I still do in the years I have left to live?" but "How can I prepare myself for my death so that my life can continue to bear fruit in the generations that will follow me?"

Jesus died well because through dying he sent his Spirit of Love to his friends, who with that Holy Spirit could live better lives. Can we also send the Spirit of Love to our friends when we leave them? Or are we too worried about what we can still do? Dying can become our greatest gift if we prepare ourselves to die well. (HN)

    When God strengthens our faith

Expressions At this present time when many Christian's faith are being tested, through financial struggles, family problems, job problems and relationship problems, we are being placed into situations whereby our faith in God will either be strengthen or weakened.

    By faith, Abraham believed...
    By faith, Noah acted...

May I encourage you that no matter what situations or problems we are facing, it is an opportunity for our faith to be increased and strengthen. You will realised that faith need to be tested.
How does our faith in God being tested?
Thru situations and problems of our life.
'All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.'
When we read the bible, it helps to build our faith, but our faith will never be tested by just reading the bible. God is real and therefore our faith in Him needs to be real as well. God who is sovereign will use situations or circumstances to make our faith a reality rather than just an intellectual knowledge.
So, do not be discourage when trials and tribulations fall upon us as though some strange things happen to us... Take courage and persevere...

    Christians in bondage

Expressions 'Where the Spirit is, there is liberty.'

I have realised that many Christians are living in sinful lifestyles and getting themselves into spiritual dryness and bondage. When sin entraps us, we will be brought under its influence. There are many reasons why Christians find it hard to praise and worship God with liberty and one of those is they are living in bondage of another spirit, not the Holy Spirit.

Can you imagine going to church, work, school or evangelise without the Presence of the Holy Spirit with you? This is what many of us are doing.

Spiritual bondage is not neccessary financial, it is not always related to the amount of money in our bank accounts. Rich people can be living in bondage, under the influence of the gods of riches of this world, the lust for more money. Yes! They are rich, but they are also many of whom living in bondage.

Christians tend to get the idea that if I am financially poor, then I am not living right with God. This statement is 100% untrue. How can we connect material things with spiritual? How can we base our spirituality or relationship with God on money? Indeed 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that true spirituality is not in the great gifts we have but in the love we possess.
Do you love God? Do you love people? Let us not boost in our arrogance because of our riches.

'Since we live in the Spirit, let us also walk with the Spirit.'

Finding your place in God's body
    Saturday, 04 February 2006 @ 11:17 PM SGT

Expressions Many of us struggle to find out and to know our position in God's church. Am I the eye, the mouth, the leg or the hand of the body? I am illustrating figuratively not literally. Therefore, they failed to find their place in the Kingdom of God. Where You want me to go? What You want me to do? What is Your plan for me? Are their constant questions in their hearts and minds.

    1. Led by God - In order for us to find our place, God must lead us to that place. If God wants you to marry someone, He must lead you to that someone, not you go and find that someone. Similarly, if God has a place for you and all Christians will have, then He will lead you to that place. However, before you reach that destination, there may be a few junctions and passes to take.

    2. Your calling is always not immediate - Many of us expect God to call us and send us straight away. Isaiah's response to God, 'Send Me' has become so popular that everyone wants to be sent right away. 'I will give up my career to go into missions.' 'I will first go into a bible college and then pastor a church.' You see, many at times we have already planned it in our mind before asking and talking to God. That is leaning on our own wisdom or understanding and not trusting in the Lord to guide us (Proverbs 3:5). As our calling and ministry grows with our walk with God, our maturity and spiritual growth will also determine the timing for our ministry or service to God. Doing it prematurely will not do us any good.

    3. Confirmation - There are a few types of confirmation from God. God confirms Saul's calling as King over Isreal thru Prophet Samuel. God confirmed Paul's call when the leaders in Jerusalem laid hands on him and Barnabas. God confirmed Paul's ministry thru signs and wonders etc.

God can confirm your calling thru prophecy, assurance from the Spirit, dreams and vision etc. God can also call you to a church or a company and confirm his calling on you thru lay people. He chose the calling, He appoints the person for the calling and He confirms that calling on you thru His people.

    God bless you!

    Intercessors - Pray without ceasing

Expressions When I was younger in the Lord, I had always thought that 'pray without ceasing' is to pray non-stop 24 hrs. At that time, I fear of stopping in my prayers.

I believe the call to stand in the gap for our nation and the world is to pray without ceasing. Not literally non-stop, but to keep on praying and without weariness.

Intercession and spiritual warfare - The Word of God tells us to pray for the days are evil. The wickedness in our days is linked to our prayers. In other words, the Word of God is saying to us to pray more, be vigilent, sober and keep on praying as we see the evil coming. Are you seeing the wickedness arising in our nation and the world? If not, I think I have to pray for you.

Obviously, prayers or intercession has to do with the spiritual condition of our days. We need to pray or intercede more to create an impact in the spiritual condition of individuals or the world at large.

The call of intercession - The call of intercession is very unique in its nature. Generally, all believers are called to intercede for others. However, I have also seen individuals with an anointing (power) from God to pray. When they pray, you felt different because it ministers to you and their prayers are pretty specific and focus in nature. When you ask, 'Hey! What are you praying just now?' They hit right at the target of your need or problem...

The Spirit who makes intercession for us - The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us when we do not know what to pray. So, the Holy Spirit makes things easy for us. When we do not know what to pray, just pray in the Spirit (pray in tongues).

    God loves you!

    The inward ministry
    Saturday, 28 January 2006 @ 05:52 PM SGT

Expressions 'And the boy Samuel ministered unto the Lord...'

    'David inquired the Lord...'

I have realised that successful men and women of God in the bible had a great inward ministry: Their ministry to the Lord.

In a fast pacing working environment like ours, we placed more pirority on our works and ministry than ministering to the Lord.

    1. In order for us to minister to others and go far in our secular works, we need to receive more from the Lord. More of His Spirit, more of His love, more of His power and revelation. If we neglect these, we will fall short in what we do.

    2. The strength of our spiritman - It is very important to have a strong spirit so that we can overcome situations or evil spirits coming against us. Ministering to the Lord will gradually strengthen our spiritman as well.

    3. The maturity in our life - Many may think that age comes with maturity. However, it is not always correct. A teenager can even be more mature than a 60 yrs old man. Why is it so? The willingness to deal with our struggles and weaknesses will determine our maturity. If a young girl at the age of 10 is willing to deal with her pride, she will be more mature when she reaches 20. However, if a man is not willing to deal with it until he reaches 60, you can say that the little girl has more maturity than the stubborn old man who is right in his own eyes. Therefore, the little girl will grow even more and faster spiritually and mentally than the man who is unwilling. You will realise that when you spend time in God's Presence, God will not only give you directions and guidance but most of all, He will talk to you about the areas of your life you need to change.

Many Christians do not wish to spend time with God because of this reason: The fear of change. They are afraid to let go of their desires and lifestyles to take on God's transformation in their lives. Therefore, you can see many people after becoming Christian for many years remain unchanged. They prefer to live like the world, so that they can avoid losing what they are clinging onto.

    4. The call to His Presence - God is calling His Church to His Presence. To knowing Him as a Person and to walk with Him. He is calling us into a deeper consecration and relationship with Him. This call from God will require all of us to forsake our desires and will and to serve His.

Let us be willing for Him!
